The Stage, The Conference, The Kitchen Table: Why Our Kids Belong There Too

I was at a Beyoncé concert recently (yes, it was every bit as epic as you imagine), and something unexpected moved me most: her daughters.
Both came out on stage—her youngest in a tender moment of presence, and her oldest in full performance mode, dancing with the kind of focus and grace you don’t usually see in young teens.
It wasn’t just adorable. It was intentional.
Beyoncé wasn’t just working—she was bringing her daughters with her into her world.
Into her life.
Into her purpose.

And it got me thinking: How often do we separate our “real” lives from our family lives—especially as women? As parents? As entrepreneurs?
Work and Life Aren’t Opposites
We’re so often told to “balance” work and family—as if they’re two opposing forces pulling us in different directions. But what if they weren’t meant to be balanced?
What if they were meant to be blended?
When Vishen Lakhiani started Mindvalley University, he brought his kids with him to the conference—and didn’t just tuck them away from the masses. He built an entire youth track. Why? Because he wanted his children to experience the same insights, inspiration, and growth that he was offering the adults.
He didn’t compartmentalize transformation. He shared it.
That’s legacy thinking. That’s vision-aligned parenting.
Your Kids Don’t Need a Filtered Version of You
They need the real you.
The dreaming you. The working you. The stretching-you-outside-your-comfort-zone you.
Whether you’re speaking at a conference, running a meeting, packing up orders, or writing your next book—let them see it. Invite them in. Let them ask questions. Let them help.
They learn by watching you live. And what they see is that work doesn’t have to be something we dread—it can be something we create.
This Isn’t Just About Career—It’s About Life
When you take your kids into your world—your whole world—you give them a vision of what’s possible:
That growth is for every age.
That creativity can be a job.
That purpose and parenting aren’t mutually exclusive.
That the future can be built with passion, vision, and flexibility.
You're not just raising kids. You're raising future thinkers, builders, dreamers, and doers.
Let Them Witness the Magic
Let them see the behind-the-scenes. Let them be on stage. Let them know that they are part of your mission—not a disruption to it.
Whether it’s Beyoncé’s stadium tour or your small home office, your work is worthy of being seen—and so is theirs.
Together, you’re building something bigger.
And when your kids witness your courage, your creativity, your leadership—they learn to find their own.
So bring them along. Let them experience it all.
Not just take your kid to work day—take your kid into your life.
Into your purpose. Into your joy.
Because that's where the real lessons are.
